About Me

Turning a passion project into a career.

About Me

I am an English speaking Canadian woman who lives in a tiny hamlet north of Toronto, Ontario. My closest friends and family would describe me as thoughtful, kind, and always plotting my next adventure.

I love to read, mostly fantasy, science fiction, and horror. Although I will always give any book a chance! I play a lot of video games, mostly RPGs, action-adventure games, and a lot of Stardew Valley. I love movies, especially Marvel, and I keep up with my favourite TV shows on all the popular streaming services!

My Work (outside of writing)

In my current day job, I am a behavioural educator. That means my days are filled with helping kids solve problems, helping them develop or repair relationships with their peers, and connecting with families. All while maintaining consistent communication with the classroom teacher, the administration, and the parents or guardians. I develop, implement, and evaluate programming that supports the psycho-social growth of my students. I work with community agencies to ensure that the families I support are connecting with the agencies that are the best fit for their needs.

All between 8:30 and 4:00.

My Journey to Writing

I have been a writer my whole life. I know how cliche that sounds, but it’s true. When I was really little and didn’t really know how to write letters, I would “write” stories in my little notebooks. It was just a bunch of scribbles, but I could tell you the whole story!

Early in elementary school, I loved to write stories. It was my favourite thing to do. I even convinced the school to let me ‘publish’ my stories with their book maker. I still remember how amazing it felt to bring home a real book that I had written.

When I was around 10, I wrote a poem that I shared with my parents. They loved it! Or at least they told me they did. From then on, I wrote and didn’t stop. Most of it was just for me. But I did some creative writing projects for school that were met with enthusiasm and praise.

Now, I’m in my late 30s. I still love to write. So much that I want to make it my full time job. And so, I am pursuing that dream: being a full time writer. I have the skill. I have the drive. I just need the opportunities.
